The idea of the resource is to read out the paragraph to the students and then ask them to state key words that were in the paragraph. After receiving a significant amount of responses, the educator then presents the class with the Wordle image. The Wordle image presents the main key words in the paragraph and after this the educator should reflect back to the class to how their responses are related to the Wordle’s. The resource is simple and kept to a minimum to get them actively thinking about the topic.

The strengths of this teaching resource is that it is simple and universal. The way it can be used is dependent on the teacher and can be used in many learning experience scenarios. Another approach to the resource is to get the students to create their own Wordle. This not only will reinforce their understandings but keep all types of learners such as kinaesthetic and visual learners actively thinking.

Identify any weaknesses of this teaching resource

The teaching resource is limited. The purpose is to introduce the students about the topic not to broaden their understanding. Ways of broadening the students understanding about the topic is to connect both resources together or have the students research the topic and have them create their own Wordle from their findings.

After resource one has been presented and implemented by the students, the educator is to than move the lesson along by presenting the class with the Pinterest webpage (Resource 2). The educator will explain that the blogs or the articles on the website are all related to how technology has advanced or are advancing in our world. The educator can than open one of the articles and while reading along he/she should ask students on how the advancements of the technology has or will affect us and our world. Once the educator has gone through one article, the students can go through one of the articles on their own or in groups and write their own notes on how the technology has affected us or our world.

This teaching resource is great for its intended purpose and the universality of the Pinterest web tool can be used for other subjects.
